With incredible musicianship and songwriting, performed in a vastly different way than their peers, Apocalyptica are a unique and welcome sound amongst the heavy metal landscape.
So, now that they seemingly walk among us, what do Belzebubs sound like? Well, it was worth the wait. This is some of the most gloriously evil blackened death metal I have ever heard. It’s polished, triumphant, and diabolically sinister.
I can’t think about any other bands at the moment, so I write today about a band who’ve released just one song, which I only heard for the first time half an hour ago. But that’s just what today has to be about. Rest In Peace, Alexi.
There’s something undeniable about Children of Bodom. They’re everything beloved about the thrash wave of the late 80s, just turned up to 11, and with a sharper edge.
At this point I was only familiar with a few of their songs, but I knew I liked them. But it didn’t matter if I didn’t know the songs, or if I understood the Finnish lyrics, because I was surrounded by people screaming every word.
I’m sure your first reaction when hearing one of these covers is to laugh. It’s silly. But, pretty quickly, your connection to the original track will return to you, and you’ll hear the cover for what it really is - surprisingly beautiful.
