263: THROANE

Posted on September 20, 2021September 20, 2021 by The Band Man in 2010s, ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

With Throane, French musician and Church of Ra member, Dehn Sora, combines sludge, post, and black metal to create a suffocating, smothering sonic monster. One that instils a sense of unease, perhaps even dread, in the listener.

In the last five years, Sora has released two full length albums, and a single-track 13 minute EP. These releases are incredible in their consistency, firmly and quickly establishing Throane as a formidable and terrifying force in extreme metal.

The riffs here are absolutely crushing, powering through and rarely relenting. There are quieter moments, however itโ€™s in these moments the atmosphere artfully increasing the tension, and the dread, as we wait for the coming onslaught.

Throane are an easy recommendation for fans of Amenra, but theyโ€™re also very much their own beast. A terrifying, powerful beast well worth your time.

ABAD.

Iโ€™m attempting to write about a different band every day in 2021.

No, I donโ€™t know why.
